Q: Best season to buy a handgun

Do handgun prices vary with the season? For example, do handguns prices go down in the summer and up in the winter? Do you see sales at Christmas or does demand push prices higher. I know that Obama has helped push overall gun prices higher. To you more experienced gun buyers, when price is a consideration, when do you like to buy?

Sometimes manufacturers have rebates or throw in free magazines and stuff. Not often but it does happen. Otherwise, the price of firearms goes up every year, it's not really getting cheaper unless something crazy happens to our currency (or the Euro, etc...).

Most of the guns I buy are used so there is no season to a good deal.

I do notice that people seem to need money and get rid of their nicest handguns during the late fall, winter or early spring.

Kind of stinks to know someone's getting rid of something they might really like but it's going to be bought by someone.

Why not me.

Your best bet is to simply check by your local gun store every week or so.

Even with new guns, there can be some really wild and unexpected great deals you'd never find otherwise.

Summerfall Winterspring. When ever you find what you want for the price you want to pay.
Sometimes I don't find out I want it until I'm standing in front of the gun counter looking at it!!!:D:D:D

Prices don't typically rise or fall with the seasons. As mentioned, sometimes there maybe a rebate or perhaps you can catch a gun on sale, but if you find a gun you like, shop around a bit, try to find your best price and then buy it.

For used guns, I saw quite a few pop up before Christmas. Tax season? I'm thinking someone might be going for a quick sale...

As for new guns, just wait & search.

If you can wait till Nov 3, 2012...;)

The ABSOLUTE best season to by a handgun is the season in which I have the most money!! Now, I just have to figure that one out!!!

I don't think overall prices fluctuate with the seasons, but used guns seem to be more really available, thus cheaper, in November and February. Read that as Christmas and Tax Time.

for used guns december is a good time with people trying to get money for presents. I got an 870 in excellent condition for $130 the week before christmas and it was one of two for that price. kinda wish I'd bought both.

I have seen sales on new guns around hunting season and a couple times around Father's Day. For used guns what others have noted already.

I don't know about new guns, but the the best time to buy a used handgun is about 1-2 months before Christmas.

I hope prices go down when Obama and his goons are led from the White House in handcuffs.

Too much bad anti-gun stuff can happen between now and then. Firearms manufactures are turning out some great stuff and reasonable prices. I wouldn't wait to get something you really want.
