Python Silhouette Info

Hello to all from a new member. I just bought a Colt Python Silhouette last week from a local gun shop, serial number is 749XX. Dealer told me that it was manufactured in the early 80's. I believe the gun to be considerably older according to info that I have found on the web. Can anyone help me? Thanks.
 
I'm not familuar with a Python model known as a Silhouette, but serial number 749XX dates to 1968.

The year started off at 73800 and ended around 89999.
 
Thanks. I appreciate the info. Yes, it is an 8" blue Python. It originally came with a 2X scope, but there was no scope or box with it when I bought it. It is probably 90-95% mint. I had never seen this particular model until I saw it in the case at the indoor range.
