Python Back From Colt

A month and a half ago I sent a couple of nickel revolvers back to Colt for tuning and refinishing. The Trooper mark V was just color buffed and came back looking great, all at no charge (even shipping to me). The Python had a blemish near the grips and a little mark near the trigger that did not come out with the buffing. Long story short I paid $200 to have the gun re-nickeled as it shoots like a dream and has a great trigger with perfect timing. Today I just got the finished gun back and I am STUNNED! It looks like a brand new gun (its almost 30 years old) and is finished perfectly and my trigger is still as light and smooth as before! I am really happy I spent the money to refinish it and I am glad Colt can still deliver. I'm at work now but I will post pictures tonight. :D Only problem is, I'm now hesitant to shoot it!!!

Hope this pic's do it justice, its looks like a brand new gun!

I'm not one who's much into Nickle guns, but for some reason the Python has always looked good in its "evening wear".

Beautiful job. Send a thank you letter to the folks at Colt and tell them how delighted you are. Ask them to share it with the folks who did the work too.

Thanks for the suggestion BillCA, I'll write them a "Thank You" note and I even have the name of the person who took care of my guns. Thanks for all the kind words, I'm glad I made the investment in getting the gun re-nickeled, and I WILL still shoot it no matter how pretty. I am a shooter first, and collector second, they did make it tough doing such a nice job though. As an aside, I changed grips on the gun last night and I noticed Colt changed out the mainspring and a few other parts relating to the cylinder lock-up on the frame. Never charged me for any of it and it still has the "glass break" trigger! I would send any gun in need of work back to Colt without hesitation, they exceeded my expectations.

What is the contact info for those guys....

I have a Colt .44 SPL SAA thats in need of a refinish and a Colt Woodsman that needs to be reblued......

It looks 100 times better in person then the pic's cen, it really looks like a new gun, down to all the little parts. The first step in sending a gun to Colt is a call to customer service for the address, the number is:Tel: 1-800-962-COLT. When you get the customer service rep tell her what you want to do and she'll give you the address to ship it to. Write a detailed letter with your name, address, phone number and the work you want done, and they will notify you in writing what they suggest you need and the price. I called and spoke to the guy, Paul in my case, that handled my guns and told him what I wanted and then gave the credit card info on the phone for payment. For me, shipping was through Fed-Ex as UPS got nutty about shipping a gun and I didn't want to argue the point, Fed-Ex was great about it and I shipped two guns together to Colt from NY and it cost $27.00

A few different pic's.

The new pics are even better. That finish is just jewel like and beautiful.
By the way, did you send the thank you letter? Any response?
My experience with Colt service was also very positive.
Mikey

I did write a thank you note to the person who handled my guns, and received a nice note back thanking me for using their services and hoping I liked the results. Worked out well for me. :)
