Pyrodex in a Powder Measure

Is Pyrodex safe to use in a standard powder measure like the RCBS or Lyman. I know it is not recommended to use black powder in those measures.

Pyrodex or any Black Powder substitute should not be used in a standard powder measure, but Lee does provide a rotary powder measure for use with Black Powder...Check it out at Lee Percision.

Lyman made one dedicated to black powder usage. It’s the model 55 classic powder measure. It came with drop tubes and a hopper made of aluminum. I believe they’ve been discontinued, but a used one might be found hunting on the web.

I spoke with Luke today at Hodgdon Powder today, he told me Pyodoex is desensitized enough and is safe to use in a standard powder measure.
