Purchased New Charles Daly DDA .45 Compact

I was fortunate enough to get one with the fuscia pink frame. It is totally cool. Well, before taking it to the range, took a good look at the internals. Pretty cool. I'll let George Hill say more about that since he looked at it with me.

As for the range test, a little dissappointed. At 5 yards, I was shooting 1 inch groups. The little gun holds 10 rounds so that's pretty good. The downside, the group was about 1.5 to 2 inches to the up and right of center.

After looking at the rear sight, it doesn't look too straight. The rear sight is made of polymer and sits in a beaver tail groove that is about an inch long.

I've contacted CD to see if they can do something with this sight, but overall, the gun is good. Trigger is lighter that I thought it would be. Now I just need it to shoot where I point.

I don't think it's the ammo. 10 shots in a 1 inch hole. It's being consistent. This is the same ammo that I've been using all along. Federal American Eagle. At 10 yards, all shots were to the up and right of center. I'll bring in the targets when I come into work.

I think it may be a "Bul". In the manual, it mentions something about "Bul." I'll have to take a closer look when I have more time. What kind of "nightmares" were people experiencing?

Those were with the 1911 clones. Your CD DDA is a relabeled CZ.
CZs are well proven and well liked handguns. Yours is just with a polymer frame. It should prove to be very reliable.

Now, the different loads can effect change in point of impact higher or lower. This is due to velocity changes and bullet weights.

That's because the Witness is a good-quality CZ-75B copy made by Tanfoglio in Italy.

And this evening I'll find out if she comes with my new CZ. :D

Yeah - a lot of good things come with CZs.

Now, I know These CD DDA's are not CZ guns. They are variants or "Clones" of the CZ design. These are very much like the EAA Witness lines... I like the think more of the CZ for heritage sake.
If you start thinking of a pink Variant off of the EAA polymer line... you get this:

George,
Nice pictures and all but are you saying the CD DDA is like Rupaul? I bought the full size DDA 10 45 and have only 5 days more to wait (Kalifornia 10 day torture) and it was in the Black and Chrome version...not the Rupaul version...did you get to shoot one? i'm really dying to hear from someone who has a little range time in to let me know how the DDA functions...and is it a "clone" of the Kimber polymer or a CZ or a witness??? ARGH! these are the kind of things we put ourselves through in PRK waiting to get our firearms!!!
Tony.

Stratford has shot his... Nice tight group. However his is the little version and the group is up and to the right a bit. This kind of annoys him, but for a compact it is perfectly acceptable.
I liked the gun. Really. I'd just rather get another color other than pink, uh, I mean Fuscia.
Still.
It's pretty cool.

Are you guys slammin' my Fuscia Pink? I find that it'll be a big distractor if ever in a gun fight. Heck, they might think it's a toy. But still, shooting off center is not acceptable. I need to get that sight fixed or learn to shoot without sights.

Stratfordholdings,
You shoot your DDA again yet? and if so...how wer'e the results? I tried E-mailing you but got no reply...maybe you can post a reply here...I pick mine up (full size non pink) in 2 days,
Tony.

In fact, I did shoot my DDA again. I just got back from shooting it about 40 minutes ago. This time with a bench rest, here are the results.

5 yards = 1.5-2.0 inch group, but to the right and up of center.
10 yards = 2.5 inch group to the right and up of center.
15 yards = 3.0 inch group to the right of center.

I also called Charles Daly. They say it could be the way I hold my gun. They also said I could adjust my sight by loosening the screw, moving the sight according, and tightening up the screw.

I had to explain to them that the screw is actually screwing into the frame so there is no play with adjusting the sight. Take a look at the attached picture.
