Hello all,
Well I went to some yard sale today, looking for deals or gunsmith specials from table to table. While I was looking I came across a JC Higgins model 10 the only apparent problem that i could right off was that it had a crack in the stock and needed a really good cleaning. I figured hey i don't own a bolt action 12 gauge and maybe i could get this one for a good deal. the only thing is i dont know much about them except they were sears/robuck specials. So i asked how much they were asking on it and with some haggling i walked out of there the proud new owner of a jc higgins model 10 583.10 for what i thought was a great price of $25.00.
I looked up what little info I could find on these I know they had a massive recall and sears will give you a 50.00gift certificate for the models that had the bolt which was recalled. I also noticed that i Have a model 10 583.10 that isn't listed among the many other model numbers on the sears list. So I have a few questions:
1. Does anyone have anymore info on these?
2. has anyone else used one of these? this model #
3. what would the value be of this in good condition?
4.would this being a non problem model # be safe to use now?
any information would be helpful, as well as thoughts or inquiries.
