I just purchased 2 boxes of 9mm amm@13.27 a box and a hundred rounds of 38 special 130 grain @ $34.67 per box. All Winchester white box at Walmart. The local gun shops around here are selling 9mm ammo for $30.00 a box. What a rip off!!

My guess is Walmart just hasn't adjusted their prices with inflation like most places have. I very rarely buy ammo at gunshops anyway though because the ones around me are almost always a lot higher than stores like Walmart.

Is it also Win white box or is it defense ammo which is allot more expensive to begin with?
Walmart is cheaper when comparing apples to apples because they are the largest buyer of ammo out there and get much better pricing.

Last I saw at WalMart was up about a dollar a box from last August. That would be the WWB 100 round value pack of 9mm. Was 27.99 now 28.99.

About the same with the 100 WWB .380 ACP. Was 34.99 Now 36.87

When the LGS guys roll down to Walmart for loading a cart with stock to atke back and mark up in their LGS, its real hard to have sympathy for the "little guy" LGS. Really glad Walmart started rationing.

Understand it and the business needs of the low margin LGS, but its not a loyalty builder.

White box fmj Winchester . Not self defense rounds. Target ammo still cheaper then any Lgs around here. I got the last boxes of 9mm. I was just fortunate to be there at the right time.

Yep my Wally World has been honest on their prices, but scarce on the ammo.

My local gun shop (sorry, LGS) guy told me that last weekend he saw Win 9mm FMJ white box ammo at Wal-mart. He bought 3 boxes (the limit at the time) and then sent his wife in to buy three boxes. Not to re-sell and gouge people, but so he could have something for his CCW students to shoot. I give him an all-good pass on that purchase. ;)

My store has also implemented the one box per day rule. Can't decide how I feel about this. It DOES result in more ammo on the shelves - I bought some 22LR today that had been barren for a month. But I also passed on some 45ACP ammo because I already had my "one box". I am too damn American - tell me I can't have something and that is the only thing I will obsess over for the next month.

For the record: Federal Match Grade 22LR 325 count box was $16.25 today. So exactly 5 cents per round. Compare that to what idiots are paying on Gunbroker and it is a steal.

Then why did you buy it???

I believe what he bought was 2 boxes of 9mm amm@13.27 a box.

The "rip off" was "The local gun shops around here are selling 9mm ammo for $30.00 a box."

From what I've seen Fleet Farm is NOT gouging.

But their shelves ARE bare in some areas of the popular ammunition and I've personally seen a guy loading up his shopping cart with ALL the bulk .22 that was on the shelf. Shrug. His right to buy what he wants and I could have got some too (I was there first but I've got enough .22 to last a couple months) but seems a little piggy IMhO.
