Purchase Help????

I am working with a fellow forum member on buying a Shotgun. He lives in Idaho and I live in Washington. Not quite across the border from each other but close. I found this in the Idaho Statuteshttp://www3.state.id.us/cgi-bin/newi...id=180330014.K but wasn't able to find something easily and comparable in the WA statues so I called the State. The individual I spoke to at the State of WA (they could be wrong) said what we were trying to accomplish was ok. In response to my PM that said it was doable the seller quoted from the XD forum that said the interstate commerce superceeded.

Can anyone help (that does gun shows or private transactions between states, as long as it is legal) with direction or feedback so I can get a shotgun I want and the seller can be comfortable that everything is above board? Or am I and the information I have been given wrong?

In the event the link doesn't work:Idaho Statutes TITLE 18
CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS
CHAPTER 33
FIREARMS, EXPLOSIVES AND
OTHER DEADLY WEAPONS
18-3314. RESIDENT'S PURCHASE OF FIREARM IN CONTIGUOUS STATE. Residents of
the state of Idaho may purchase rifles and shotguns in a state contiguous to
Idaho, provided that such residents conform to the applicable provisions of
the federal Gun Control Act of 1968, and regulations thereunder, as
administered by the United States secretary of the treasury, and provided
further, that such residents conform to the provisions of law applicable to
such a purchase in Idaho and in the contiguous state in which the purchase is
made.

The Idaho Code is made available on the Internet by the Idaho Legislature as a public service.
This Internet version of the Idaho Code may not be used for commercial purposes, nor may this
database be published or repackaged for commercial sale without express written permission.

Thanks,

According to your web link and the representative of your state it's perfectly legal.
I'm assuming that you called the appropriate state agency.

If the seller still does not feel comfortable have him mail it to an FFL near you to do the transfer.

I just talked with ATF in Spokane, in the event of a private purchase across state lines of a long gun there still needs to be an FFL involved. It does not need to be shipped, however both parties need to meet at a pre determined transfer FFL (in either state) and make the transaction.
