Pump Action Questions

How many of you would have an interest in a pump action rifle chambered in one of the following series of cartridges:

357 Mag/357 Maximum
41 Mag/414 Super Mag
44 Magnum/445 Supermag

Wood or Synthetic furniture?

What price range would you be willing to pay?

Hmmmm, Interesting question.....Lets see.

Carbine size
18" bbl
Evil Black Synthetic Stock
Detachable 10 rnd mag (Leave room for 300+gr slugs)(1st choice)
5 rnd mag for hunting
Built in Stripper clip guide
If must be tube fed, must be full length of bbl (2nd choice)
44 Mag (1st choice)
445 supermag (2nd choice)

Actually, I'd like to see it in 45/70 Govt.
No more than 400-500 dollars for the 44/445
Up to 700 for the 45/70

Australia cries YES!
We of course can't have semi auto rifles here, so pump action rifles are the next best thing. I'm currently waiting for the chance to buy a Remington model 7600 pump rifle, and would gladly get a pump rifle in .357 mag/.44 mag.

I need more info, guys. Specifically what bore (.357, .410, .429) you'd want, and how much you'd be willing to pay.

Just for the sake of discussion, let's say it's got synthetic furniture and a tube mag as long as the barrel.

I`d buy one in .357 mag. Here`s a few ideas. No trigger disconnect so it could be fired trench broom style.Standard ghost ring sights and a picatinney rail to allow for the easy mounting of optical sights.Maybe a buttstock shell holder ala Mossberg.A flash hider would also be nice.I`d happily pay 4-500 bucks.

Here`s something else I`d like to see.A similar rifle in .223 that would accept M-16 mags.Wouldn`t that infuriate the bliss ninneys!

357 max with action that will handle 38 wadcutter too. Full length tube mag, synthetic or non high gloss walnut. Keep it short (16" bbl), dual aperture sight (similar to M16 A2) with protected post. With good fit/finish and under $500.00, sign me up.

Design it so that the furniture would be the same as something common like the Remington 870. That way if people wanted they could put all sorts of different kinds of existing stocks and forearms onto the weapon. Surefire, folding stocks, etc.

I dont believe I forgot sights in my 1st post! Yes, the Ghost ring sights sound good and a straight post front, probly dovetailed in so people can trade sights to thier preference. That means the scope mount is in order too.

If its tube fed you gotta give us a plug for hunting. Make it like an 870 same rear, scaled down in front, Bottom mag feed?

.429 bore, made to shoot lead bullets!

Sweet.

Hey, either way. Just build the gun, we'll deal with it!:D

The flash hider is a good idea too. Ala Vortex, so its easy to clean.

If ya built it like a scaled down 870, someone could then build a (10 round?) sidesaddle carrier for it in addition to the buttstock shell carrier.

A reasonable trigger is in order also...:D

If ya do go with the detachable mag, dont forget the stripper clip guide. Obviously, a tube fed will not lend itself to stripper clips.

I think the reason for going with a detachable magazine is to be able to get the maximun legal capacity.Could a tube feeder hold 10 rounds of .44mag and still keep the barrel at a handy length?

Ed, ya got me thinking....

You know those tube-like "speedloaders" used for loading shotguns real fast? I wonder if something similar could be adapted for loading the "traditional" gate on the side of a lever action...? Ya think maybe? It would need to insert at a very shallow angle.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

If we used a detachable mag, we might as well try to use a big one. I'm betting on the Brady Bill sunsetting, but just in case I wonder what the best guess for a magazine would be... Perhaps an FAL Mag with a block insert? I don't think an AR mag is wide/long enough for a 44 Spl/Mag/Supermag cartridge.

Yeah, I think if it was an 18" gun we'd have to go detachable mag, and if it were longer we'd go with the tube mag. I really like the idea of 870 furniture commonality. Sights are a whole 'nuther issue, though. Traditional barrel mounted rear sight, with a "flat top" built into the receiver, maybe?

Keep those ideas coming, all...

I wouldn`t bet on Brady sunsetting so I wonder, from a legality standpoint,if you modify an existing standard cap.magazine to accomodate a different cartridge,is it a "new" hi cap per Brady?

Being the victim of a carbine fetish,I`d like to keep the barrel as short as possible.16"?

I'm with Edward on most points 'cept I'd prefer nice straight grained walnut and the detatchable mag over a tube feed.

I think "NIGHTCRAWLER" asked about something similar to this a while back.

If you're gonna build the rifle(s) for us, would it be THAT big of an undertaking to give it a new mag and not an possibly unreliable adaptation? Single colum mag to keep it trim...

I could live with a 16" barrel too...
