Puma PPS Wildcat 50

Disappointing

It's a nice little rifle but nowhere near worth the $512.78 I paid for it (the Wildcat version). The drum magazine is flimsy at best and broke first thing. The main spring kept popping out of it's slot in the spindle. After returning the spring to it's proper position about 5 times I called Legacy Sports who told me they'd repair or replace the mag or exchange it for (2) 30 round stick magazines free of charge. I chose the (2) stick mags. Just got back from the Post Office. The Legacy Sports service tech said they have new polymer drum mags being built in America for it but won't be available until October. The metal drum mag that was supplied with my rifle was complete junk. Thankfully they had a ready solution. It shot well the rounds we did get down the tube but the session was overshadowed by the frustration. I would call this a nice $300 rifle. I was snookered at $512.

The (2) 30 rnd replacement magazines arrived. They're mfg by Black Dog Machine. They look reasonable well made. Plastic feed lips. Follower extends into receiver when empty acting as a bolt stop. The drum mag didn't do this. I'll let y'all know how they function.

Just fired off 60 rnds of Remington 550 from the new stick magazines. Went through the rifle like poop through a goose. Only 1 FT Fire (light strike). Put it back through and it went off second time around. If you insert a full magazine with the bolt closed it doesn't want to feed that round when you cycle the bolt. Since the bolt hold open only works with an empty mag in place it's best to retract the bolt, hold it open, insert the loaded mag then release the bolt. No problems this way. Woo Hoo!

I have one

1. Overpriced (420.00+tax dros).
2. Pesky to take apart due to the crummy italian screw heads and poor fitting takedown pins.
3. VERY fun to shoot, over 3500 rounds with NO problems so far.
