• Anything ‘published’ on the web is viewed as intellectual property and, regardless of whether it displays a copyright symbol or not, is therefore copyrighted by the originator. The only exception to this is if there is a “free and unrestricted reuse” statement associated with the work.

In order to protect our members and TFL from possible litigation, all members must abide by the following new rules:

    1. Copying and pasting entire articles from another site to TFL is strictly prohibited. The same applies to articles from print or other media, and to posting photographs taken of copyrighted pages or other media.

    2. Copyright law provides for “fair use” of portions of a copyrighted work. You can copy no more than a SINGLE paragraph from the article to your post (3 or 4 sentences at most).

    3. You must provide a link to the article along with the name of website. For example: ww.xxx.yyy/zzz (The Lower Thumbsuck Daily News).

    4. You must provide, in your own words, a brief summary of the article AND your reasons for believing it will be of interest to TFL members. Failure to do so may result in the thread being closed or your post being deleted as a “cut and paste drive by.”

    5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it.

Posts that do not follow these new guidelines will be altered or deleted by staff. Members who continue to violate this policy may lose their posting privileges at TFL.

Thank you for your cooperation and your participation in TFL, the leading online forum for firearms enthusiasts.

I'm punching in from a computer lab at a University as I currently don't have a home connection.

For reading the forums this works fine. However when I post, it allows me to post but before I'm kicked back to the thread I get a message suggesting I don't have authority and demanding I reenter my Username/etc. This accomplishes nothing.

I'm I doing something bad, is this a result of new security measures or perhaps the University doesn't accept the right cookies?

I'm assuming you are talking about the new software..... I know there is an issue with cookies in the current software that was cleaned up. It may still be present in the new software, I don't know for sure though as I have not looked into the code for it at all.

If you are coming from a computer lab you most likely don't have or want cookies enabled on the computer, unless you delete them after EVERY time you come here.

I'll look into the new code after I get some of the other annoying "features" taken care of.

Well, I really don't know what caused this change, though it happened fairly recently. Over the last month, I think. All I know is that now whenever I post from a school computer, I get the message that I don't have authority and reentering my data kicks me back to this same page again.

Could have been a change at this end, I'm not certain?
Thanks for your interest. At this point I just hop to another terminal after I post.

I'm sorry, I now see that this is occuring with version 1.1.5.

That's not what this forum is about is it?

Sorry for any misdirection.

Valdez - I've got to think that you hit it squarly on the head when you surmised that the University doesn't accept the right cookies. Or more probable, they have completely disabled cookie processing. I know I would if I had a computer system open to the publics use if only to protect user A from the less than honorable tactics of user B.
