I just got interested in firearms and was wondering if there are any public ranges in Pittsburgh, PA. So far most of my shooting has taken place in abandon strip mines. Thanx

Sorry I can't help you there Dave. However, if you ever swing through Lancaster, give me a holler. I'll be more then happy to take you plinking at one of my clubs.

I believe there's a TFL member from the Pitt area. I'll send him the link to this posting. Maybe he can help you out.

Best Regards

There's one in the Monroeville/Murryville area. Years ago, I attended a gun shoot-show there. Is that too far to drive? It might be for members only, but if I find out what the name and number of it is, I'll let you know if you like. It had steel plates and for rifle, pepper poppers.

Dave- I live in Beaver Co. There is a new inside Bullseye range out near Moon Twp.(state of the art), but it ain't cheap.
If you don't mind driving a few miles there are 2 outside ranges that are open to the public-$1 donation. Beaver Co. Gun Club is on Rt.51 adjacent to Brady's Run Park. The other is Beaver Falls Sportsman's Farm on Blackhawk Road. The Ambridge District Sportsman's Ass. also has ranges but you may have to be a member. It is in Economy, Pa. If ya ever want to hook up, let me know.

Hey Dave,

I'm the guy SVT was referring to. Don't know which part of Pitt you hail from but I'm about 30 miles south near Connellsville.
Sth. Conn. Rod & Gun is my local and its a real sweet outdoor handgun and rifle range that sits back in the woods right alongside the Youghigheny river, if every range was as pleasant as this one everyone who likes the outdoors would shoot, also, membership is cheap. If you see a real handsome guy there shooting bowling pins down at 50 yards with his weak hand that'll be me ;)
