PT911 - Any experience?

had Mine about 6 months now with over 1000 rounds through it. I think it is very reliable and comfortable to shoot. it is also a breeze to disassemble and clean. Good luck and enjoy

:)

I have a good buddy that has the PT145 and loves it. Carries it everywhere and stands behind it. Taurus will stand behind there products so you have a warranty for life. Gotta like that.

Good weapon.

Althought I am not a fan of their revovlers, I must admit they do
make some good stuff, the PT-111 is a great fit for a lot of buyers because it is a compact, lightweight weapon that has a manual safety, and is priced just around $300. I have great experience with weapon, and I'm sure you'll have good luck with it too.

I bought the PT-911 (earlier models were dubbed PT-908) about a year ago and love it. The ergonomics rank high on my list.
Mine is far more than combat accurate and I recall only one jam, a FTF out of the thousand or so rounds I've put through it.

The failure to feed was while using Federal Eagle 147gr truncated FMJs. I fired exactly three boxes (150rnds) of this ammunition through the pistol, one failed.
The other 800 or so rounds were PMC 115gr FMJ and cheap G-A reloads. No problems with anything else.

I believe this breaks the old record of 12 months between the posting of a question and the first answer!

New record: 14 1/2 months.

Moving to the Semiauto forum.

Taurus=Junk!!!

Have a PT-145. Frame is cracked !! Taurus has had it now for three weeks. No word at all!!! They can keep it as far as I am concerned. Even if they give me a new gun, the problem of the material being too weak remains!!! If I get it back, I plan to find some goof that wants it!!! Meybe I can use the money to get Trijicons for my G36.:D

Correct me if im wrong, but isn't the PT911 the all-steel semi-compact, while the PT111/145 are the polymer types?

I've read a lot of good reviews about Taurus's all-steel semis and revolvers. Avoid the polymer version.

PS: I hope jaykay397 still gets to read this...

What a way to make a 1st post, by breaking a record! I failed to notice the date of original post.... Denfoote, I have read about your problems with the PT-145, that is SCARY!! And I have Indefinately postponed purchasing that pistol as a direct result of these reported problems..... However I couldnt be happier with my PT-911 in stainless. Never any problems or malfunctions other that a few FTF when first aquired, but I attribute that to me being a newbie shooter. My only disapointment is that I cant seem to find any cool accessories to put on it, or use high cap mags...:)

i've got a problem PT145 too - cracking in the same place at the butt end of the gun on the plastic. hey denfoote- i f you seee this will you email me? i tried to email you from your profile but it did not work. already talked to SS about this. maybe we should compare notes...finally got through to 'deidra' at taurus on the phone today.

Taurus products are not "junk".
What Taurus did was market a product that obviously didn't go through the rigorous testing it should have during R&D, that much they're guilty of. The PT-145 most certainly does have problems, and I smell a recall in the future (may be a while).

As for the erroneous blanket accusation of all Taurus products equalling junk, I couldn't disagree more. The vast majority of Taurus product are quality weapons, and this includes the PT-911.

N_C,

As far as I'm aware, you're absolutely correct.

I hope that the problems are resolved soon. After becoming comfortable with the 9mm I decided after shooting a friends .45 that I would like to have one also. the only thing i didnt like about my friends pistol (Ruger 97 I believe) was that it only held 7 rounds and was in my opinion too bulky. The PT-145 seemed to cover all these issues. Its a shame they apparently jumped the gun (pardon the pun) and rushed it to the public without testing it thouroughly first.

Anybody out there that could suggest something similar in size and capacity to the pt-145 that has been tested and has held up well???

Para Ord makes Lda 12 if you want DA only. 3.5 in. barrel 10 shot (unless you buy optional 12 round). If you like SA then Standard P12 is the way to go. They make a smaller 3" P10 but I know they had function probs when released and I have no idea if they have ironed out. I think Springfield still lists a compact double stack but I haven't seen any for a while.
I've been carrying a Smith 457 ..3 3/4 in. 7 + 1 capacity.

PT-145 Problems

I had earlier problems with mine. I posted pics for all to see. After many phone calls to Deidra at Taurus Customer Service I have a completely new gun. No refund was given that is what I asked for!!!

I am off to local gun show tomorrow to sell it!!!

BRAND NEW NEVER FIRED UP FOR SELL.

:barf: Won't even try to shoot it again. All I want to do is be rid of this thing. Without lossing my A__.

Feels like a Glock 27 kinda feeeling coming on!!!
