PT Night Sights

Anyone used these? In particular the bar-dot-bar or multi-color three dot sights? I'm thinking of putting them on my Ruger P90.

I have them on my H&K USP 45. They are the green 3 dot and they aren't as bright as the Trijicon or Meprolight.

I strongly urge you to cosider Meprolites or Trijicons. I have had PT's on 2 pistols. The first was a Para Ordnance P14 Limited. The PT's were barely visible in the dark. I wound up trading the pistol on a SIG 226 .40 caliber. My latest pistol, a SIG Sauer 225 had green dot PT's on it. A friend had them installed shortly after buying the 225 (about a year ago) and sold it to me recently. The PT's are VERY dim. When I compare them to my SIGlites on my 229 (about 4 years old now) they do not compare.
As soon as the holidays are over, I am having the sights replaced.
PT's can be found for very good prices on the net and have a good warranty policy. You can save a little money now and deal with the hassle of sending them in later.
When I purchased my current duty gun, the dealer had put PT's on the gun (thinking that I wanted them) mistakenly. They offered them at a discounted price to avoid the hassle of removing them. When I found out they were PT's, I refused to buy the pistol until the night sights were removed.
My partner had PT's put on a Para P12, they were terrible too. I don't know how they manage to stay in business.
YMMV, but my opinion is stay away from them.

I have them on many of my pistols. I use the 3 dot orange/green combo, though I like the red green and blue green as well. I do have a couple that are going back to be redone, for free, after 5 years as they are getting too dim. Keep in mind that with PT's the rear dots are loaded one third less bright intentionally to help pit up the front sight faster. I only need my dots bright enough to use, I am not trying to read with them, so the PT's work great for me and when I do find them getting too dim I send them back for replacement. It is worth the hassle to me to get the two color dots.

I have them on a Hi Power and Glock 27.I live within driving distance so the warranty is beneficial to me.They have replaced mine on the Hi Power with the red/green combination, and I am satisfied with them. The two color system is very easy to pick up.

A friend of mine put PT sights on three of his guns. Within a year he had torn them off and put on Trijicons.

I had them on a S&W 669 (had the slide dovetailed so that they would fit on the front.) Used orange and yellow. Within 6 months of installation they had dimmed to darkness. I called PT, and they said send it back for replacement. Sent the slide only.
They called me and suggested STRONGLY that I used green rather than the other colors. I did. Had it back in about a week.

Two years later they were noticeably dimmer, but still glowing. I gave the gun to my son (a cop), who sold it.

I'll use only Meprolights or Trijicons from now on. They seem to be better-built sights -- and the white ring around them makes them easier to pickup in day light.

(One of the gun refinishers swore that PTs were junk, as gun solvents made the tritium capsules come out of their plastic holders.)

One trip back to the factory more than offsets any savings you might enjoy by buying the less-expensive sights.

A few years ago P-T had a problem with sights that went dim relatively quickly. From what I have seen, the problem is solved. IWI (maker of P-T Night Sights) offers a nice range of products at reasonable prices. They have also done some very nice custom installation of tritium inserts in the existing sights of guns I have that don't have replacement sights available.

I will continue to give IWI my business, and time will tell how long the newer tritium sights stay bright as compared to other brands.

FWIW, I find Trijicon to be excellent. Meprolight has given me mixed results, and I had to return a set of their sights before I even installed them since they came from the distributor very dim. I've installed a few of the Meprolight shotgun bead sights, and so far -- so good.

I have had good luck with PT sights. As stated above, they did have some problems a couple of years ago. They have a great law enforcement plan. As far as them not being as bright as some of the others: they marketing designs is a subdued rear with a standard front. We always order the high intensity front and rears and have been very pleased with them. Service is great. The thing I like about them is I can send the slide of the gun to them and they install at no extra charge. When I send them until I get them back is 7-10 days. Trijicon and Meprolight charge for installing their sights if you send them in. I called Trijicon last year for installation of their sights into a Beretta 96 slide. The sight cost was $100.00 and they wanted $125 to install them. I passed. We sent the officer's slide to IWI for a cost of $75.00 (sights and install)
