PT-111 Trigger

Fired my Taurus PT-111 yesterday for the first time in a while. As always, function was flawless but I had forgotten how awful the trigger is. Anybody know where I could get different springs or something else to do to lighten/improve the pull? I know such things are available for Glocks and the mechanism is similar.

I have a PT-111 and my trigger is flawless. I've put about 3000 rounds throught it so far. I can't remember if the trigger pull has changed since it was new. However, I can say that I never complained about the trigger when the gun was new. You may want to contact Taurus. I had to send my gun back to them after carrying it on my leg as a backup for several years. (Nothing wrong with the gun itself. Chalk it up to the person who's leg it was strapped to). I had a great experience with customer service.

The trigger on my PT-145 is heavy, and gritty, but after 350rds, it is smoothing out. :) I am going to have my gunsmith do some polishing on the internals to see if it helps. If not, I can live with it. :)

I had my gunsmith look at my PT111 and couldn't improve the trigger. I would call Teddy Jacobsen, Actions by T, and see what he can do with it. Teddy probably knows more about triggers that anyone else that is around. Regards, Richard

I keep the trigger assembly on mine oiled with Miltec, and I dryfire a lot (with snapcap, of course.) Not sure if it's the trigger getting smoother or me getting used to it -- probly a little of both -- but I'm able to keep most of a box of 115 gr Blazers in an 11" x 17" blowup of bin Laden's head at 25 yards. I doubt if I'll ever be shooting at the bastard with my PT-111 from any further than that.

I do keep the trigger mechanism clean and well lubricated, and working it with the slide off is really smooth. Gritty feel and hard pull comes when the slide is on and the trigger is operating the striker mechanism (understandable since now a lot more parts are moving). I think maybe I'll disassemble the slide and see if some things can be polished up some. Thought maybe a lighter striker spring would help but I don't know where I might get one.

On a related topic, does anybody know a web site or elsewhere to get a bigger blowup picture of the PT-111? The exploded view in the manual is really small and hard for me to read.

md2lgyk,

If you haven't got a bigger blowup of your PT-111 yet, you can just run the printed manual pages through a good copy machine with blow-up capabilities. Offset printed pages have very high resolution, so you can also have somebody with a computer, a scanner, and a decent graphics program make it any size you want. Web images won't work because they're never better than 75 or 96 dpi in the first place.
