PSA vs BCM

Hey guys, I am going to buy a 20" upper from one of these companies. The BCM is slightly more expensive than the Palmetto, but is it any better quality?

Which one would you guys go with and why?

I have a BCM that I'm very happy with. FWIW I hear alot of chatter about PSA customer service but the parts are pretty good. I have a couple of friends that are gun smiths and specialize in precision rifles and AR type weapons and they say RRA is one of the best for the money. However he rated Noveske and DD pretty high on the list.

I personally believe that its hard to go wrong with any of them, at least for my mere mortal skills and requirements. :D

I also have a RRA that is great but its set-up different then my BCM so its hard to compare. Both are more accurate than I and I've had zero issues with either.

PSA is decent parts for cheap.. but they're slow to ship, and very slow to respond to any customer questions.

If you aren't in a hurry, they're probably okay.

BCM is a whole 'nother level though. The price difference isn't that much... I'll be using BCM from now on.

I don't know much about PSA, heard good things. I finally got my BCM setup with a fixed stock and Giessele trigger and i'm just now discovering how good the barrel really is. This is with Southwest's ammunition 77gr SMKs. 3 shots measured from outside to outside right around 3/10ths of a inch. 4th shot that i pulled put it at 1/2 MOA. The two below were when i was getting it on target. I love this rifle, that is the best 3 shot group i've shot in my life. I know 3 shot groups don't count for much and since .224 bullet diameter is small it helps a little. But for a gas gun in my hands i was insanely happy yesterday. Group on the right is my friends. Don't forget WOA also they make very accurate rifles.

No experence with PSM.

But the Bolt Carrier Group I got from BCM is great... They are a highly respected manufacturer for a reason.

Paul and Co. are good people to do business with, they're products are second to none for the money, and i might go as far to say second to none period. Simply because they meet every single requirement for a military specification weapon that is done right and have lifetime warranty unlike colt. I've yet to buy anything else, and most people probably think i'm abit of a fanboy. But fact of the matter is i've seen no reason to change, and whats not to like? I've yet to find a negative statement on BCM.

Here's a video about BCM enjoy.

I wish BCM would make a 6.8SPC upper. The 6.8SPC is going to be my next upper, I'll probably go with RRA even though I cant get exactly what I want from them.

Just buy the BCM upper and screw a 6.8SPC barrel on it. There are plenty of them out there, you get what you like and pay a lot less for it.

I've shot and fondled both while drooling :( and I see 0 difference in quality. That said, the BCM will ship sooner as PSA is still backlogged from their Black Friday/Pre-Christmas sales. If you want it tomorrow, go BCM. If you can be patient, my vote goes for PSA. I've got a couple of their parts kits on the way myself (been a little bit but I can wait for the price they charge...).

Check out AR Performance for your 6.8 needs. My buddy has one of their uppers and it is top notch. Here is a link to their site http://www.ar15performance.com/online___store

Thanks! I'm on their site now.

I'm gonna do the same. I think their parts kits are under $50, they also have great prices on ammo.

BCM and Spikes are both Milspec, as is PSA. You can't go wrong with any of them. BCM is very popular right now and seem to constantly be out of stock. PSA is a great deal but be prepared to wait and don't expect them to tell you how long.

Per a conversation with Spikes, they don't make a 20" upper and they have no plans to make one in the future.
