PSA Lower Project

So I have completed my build with my PSA lower joined it temporary with my Smith M&P15T upper until I figure out what upper I want to get for it. I think I have it narrowed down to 6.5 Grendal or 6.8 SPC I know want it to be 20" H-Barrel. Any suggestions would be great.

Yea wasn't sure how the different tones between the receiver and the Magpul stock and grip would look, but I think it looks pretty good I think I am going to paint the upper receiver and hand guards, but leave the barrel black. I think that would look pretty good.
 
nice looking rifle. I don't think you can go wrong with either cartridge

here is a thread with a pdf of ballistics comparisons. 6.5 is going to have a little better sectional density and ballistic coefficient and better match bullet selection if shooting LR is your goal, 6.8 has a bit of a edge on hunting bullets if hunting is your goal. But again either one would be fine for paper or meat, we are talking such minute differences here it really does not matter.

lots of people make the dies and their are tons of load data for each also

Thanks! I wiped it down with rubbing alcohol to remove any grease or oil and I painted it with Rust-Oleum Camouflage Khaki put about 3-4 coats on it and I let it cure for at least a week before I touched it. I was worried about the paint not adhering well, but I have to be honest it seems to be sticking really well I put about 200rds thru it and haven't had any problems so far. I even tried scratching it to see how easy it would come off and it doesn't want to come off easy.

when did you get your lower? psa has been out of stock for a month now

I ordered two when they had there Christmas sale, but I picked them up from there Ridgeland store about a hour from me around the beginning of January.
 
6.5 Grendel/Sporter/LBC whatever all the way. Now your going to make me start another project when I haven't even got the first one off the ground yet:D
 
There is nothing the 6.8 SPC will do better than the 6.5 Grendel, and the opposite does not hold.

So what's to think about?

In the absence of needing subsonic rounds, or cheaper plinking ammo as can be had for the .223, I would have no reason to ever own an AR-15 in any other caliber.

Nice job on that build. I like the color. As far as caliber I'm a big fan of the Grendel. Plenty of commercial ammo on the market now and it's semi affordable. No other round has the accuracy potential IMHO.

I have two builds here still needing barrels. I'm waiting to see if Wolf releases the steel case Grendel they have been talking about. I think a 14.5 Grendel carbine would be very sweet.

My 24" Grendel is a little long and heavy but it fills it's intended purpose, 1K accuracy.

madcratebuilder if you don't mind me asking what $$$ do you have in the upper I pretty much want to get a upper like you have except I want the barrel black. I have also learned that asking 6.8 vs the 6.5 is like asking AR vs AK. What kind of groups do you get with that?
