Pros & Cons...1pc. Vs. 2pc. scope mounts

I've stayed with two-piece mounts on my bolt-action rifles. On many semi-autos, one-piece is all that's available.

Unless ultimate rigidity is a factor, such as in bench-rest competition, I don't see a benefit in a one-piece mount.

Two-piece mounts are lighter.

What kind of Rifle do you have? I had a one piece mount on my Win. model 70 long action and it put the scope too far forward. I had to go with two piece mounts with a reversible front. I believe this is a common problem with the Model 70. You may want to make sure this isn't a problem with your rifle.

Do a search on Varmint Al's homepage. You will find all the info you need there. Very good, technical info. My Rem.700 PSS wears a Leupold one piece.

One piece. Less strain on the scope as recoil gets absorbed by the receiver. Also the one piece is more stable since there's less parts to move/shift about.

On my personal guns, sometimes I have two piece because I can't get a left hand one piece.
