Proper sight alignment on Beretta M92FS

What is the proper way to align the sights on the M92FS? Do all three dots need to be aligned straight across or is the front post supposed to be slightly higher? Also, is the target supposed to be covered by your sight picture or is the target supposed to be above it. Thank you all. Let me know if you need any verification before answering.

The preferred sight picture is sometimes called "equal height, equal light".

So the top of the front sight is to be level with the top of the rear sight, and that will line all 3 dots up. And the amount of light on each side of the front sight, as seen through the notch in the rear sight, is to be the same on both sides.

And as to where to put the front sight on the target image, the answer is "it depends". Using the same gun, it depends on the trajectory of the bullet and the range to the target. The best sight picture at 10 yards will place the holes differently at 25 yards, and so on.

For you, with your pistol, with your ammunition, at your favorite distance, there is one answer. I encourage you to get out the range and shoot until you have found that answer.

And welcome to The Firing Line!

Who certainly does like those Beretta 92 pistols.

If I remember correctly Berettas are set up for you to cover the point of aim with the front post.

And yes bullet drop is a thing, but from 10 yds to 25 yes you won't notice much of a difference, if any.

Both previous posters are right.

front post should be even with rear, and centered.
it's a 3 dot system and setup for a 12'o'clock hold.. or what I prefer to call "dot on dead"
The dot on the front site is where your bullet is going.

If you don't like this system they do have aftermarket adjustable rear sights.. you should be able to setup for a pumpkin on a post type 6'o'clock hold.
