proof of residence?

I WAS going to buy my gun today, but I was looking at the federal background check thingy, I saw the address box, and realized, "wait a minute, I got a problem here:"

I'm a Missouri resident. I pay Missouri taxes. I know my legal residence is here, because that's what's on my DD form 93 and other stuff.

However, I'm in the Air Force, and stationed in New Mexico. I don't have orders or something to that effect to show the people at the gun store.

So, will a voter registration card/certificate/whatever work? Or tax documentation? Can I get some online?

I purchased firearms from states I was stationed in merely by showing my Florida DL and military ID card. You can also show residency by providing a copy of a utility bill, phone bill, lease or similar type document written in your name. Voter registration should work.

Go for it. Even in Calif, proof is same as the above post. In addition, if you have a car registration in that state, it also counts. The tax records also applicable. The bottom line is go buy it. I assume you are US citizen, not a convicted felon, not on drugs, etc. The FFL seller will lead you through the forms.

For military you can purchase in your home state and your state of residence. To do so you have to show a copy of your orders showing your permanent duty station is in that state. Otherwise, a military ID would allow you to buy anywhere.

I can't remember why, but in FL I also got a FL ID card with my local address on it to make firearms purchases.

Yeah, I just have to bring a photo ID and a copy of my orders to buy guns here in Colorado (Vermont resident).
