Went to the Dozwell, VA gun show today.

Took along a Remington Rolling Block in the wrong caliber (.43 Spanish) and traded it for a new Zig M1911.

Haven't shot it yet but it seems like a pretty decent pistol.

Any reaction? Any experience? Any suggestions?

Sig 1911?

I have a friend with one. He hasn't had any issues with his. He wasn't a fan of the included mags, but I have a couple Sig 1911 mags I got for free, and they work fine in my Springfield.

Whelp... I'm stumped... Thats a new one for me, as I am unfamiliar with Zig.

So long as they use a GOOD forged or cast frame and slide, to proper specs, you should be good. All the other parts can be replaced easily if there are issues.

Thats it, Venom......

The one I purchased (traded for) has wood grips. That'll be the first thing that gets changed.

The Zig 1911's used to be sold as Regent Arms 1911's by Umarex out of Arkansas. They are made in Tisas Turkey.
I had one of their 4 inch versions and it shot and functioned perfectly. But I traded it off because of the inability to get replacement parts for it through their company. And by company I mean both Umarex in Ark and their Zig Factory outlet in Florida. Got nothing but a run around for over 2 months before they both finally informed me they couldn't get replacement parts such as recoil springs. And in the case of recoil springs for that particular pistol, it was a totally proprietary system that no one else made springs that would work in it.
To me a company that won't furnish replacement parts for it's products is simply unacceptable.

Seems like a good base platform to work from. As a full size, so long as there are no deviations from the standard specs, replacing parts will not be an issue.

Upgrades are pretty easy... You can do the safety and grip safety with little effort.

From what I understand Tisas is an affordable way to get a 1911, and the Turkish firearms industry seems to be quality oriented.

I like the looks of this pistol....

Coupla reasons:

1. The manufacturers markings are very subtle

2. Finish is professional looking

3. The grips will easily change for some black hard rubber grips. (which I ordered today) I don't like the OEM wood grips.

4. I don't like the magazine but other 1911 mags the I have fit in it.
