Project ideas wanted ???

I am looking for machining project ideas. Simple custom parts you would like to see for whatever firearms you want to customize.

I have my own CNC Lathe and Vertical Mill. Table top versions that you normally see in trade schools so my work envelope is very limited.

Mill work envelope = 6.2" "X", 5" "Y", 4" "Z" (indexing head soon to be added)

Lathe work envelope = 2.25" dia. x 5" long.

I haven't run one of these machine's since college, so it will take me a while to get them fired up. I want to keep it simple to start with. Once I get comfortable the sky is the limit.

Thanks

I have an extra copy of a project manual that was written by William Prator for the school at Trinidad in 1974. About 100 pages of machining projects, mostly tools, jigs, and fixtures used in gunsmithing. You're welcome to it if we can figure out how to get it to you. I'm not sure if there are rules about posting phone numbers, addresses, or email addresses here.

Aluminum floorplates for Beretta 92 magazines are saleable items that might not be too hard to make.

No rules, but I recommend that you use the Private Message function rather than posting your personal information for the entire internet to see.

Click on the username of the person you wish to contact and that will bring up their Profile. Under their name, click on "Send Message" and that will bring up the PM window.

Thanks for the ideas gentelmen. Floorplates are an excellent part to start with. Obviously it would solve a problem someone has encountered.

Keep the ideas coming.

Thanks again.

I have the same book as oldsmith , still used at TSJC in 84.

How about some parts turned/milled from plastic?
Like the throat piece of a Winchester 1300 shotgun??
