has begun. Took the initial step this am A.M. and ordered the base platform for my treestand 7mm08. Ended up selecting the Remington SPS Varmint 7mm08.
First thing to happen will be to get the barrel cut down to 20" and recrowned and change the bolt handle to a larger "tactical" knob.
Second will be to replace the factory stock with a aftermarket, just have to choose a make and style, might get you fine folks to offer some suggestions on a reasonable priced unit.
Third will be to replace the trigger if I cannot get the factory one to break at about 2.5 lbs like most of my other hunting units.
Fourth is to have the entire unit dipped to a Mossy Oak Breakup finish.
Down the line I may replace the extractor and other little things.
Scope is going to be another Bushnell 4200 2.5X10X50 #4 Ill Reticle with Burris mounts and Weaver Tactical 6 Lug Rings.
This is going to be a 100-200 yard treestand rifle for our tight stands and woods. Looking forward to how everything turns out, I hope.
Anyone out there have a SPS in 7mm08? How does it shoot? Never really been a huge Remington fan but hopefully that will change. Can't argue one bit about the amount of aftermarket and product availability for customization.
