Prof. Robert Spitzer comments on "Militia"

I would like to hear some comments on the statement below by Spitzer. It is from abcnews

"The 2nd Amendment pertains only to citizen service in a government organized and regulated militia. It bears no connections with hunting, sporting, personal self-protection, or any other personal use. We know this because people who wrote the 2nd Amendment stated that the purpose for inclusion of the 2nd Amendment was to protect state government's rights to form militias.
The 2nd Amendment was not designed to allow rebellion or revolution. Such actions are outside of the Constitution. In fact, the Constitution says that the militia is to be used to suppress rebellion. As a matter of law, the 2nd Amendment bears no direct relationship to the current controversy over guns."
 
Utter fabrication-standard nonsense spewed forth by antis-refuted by the overwhelming weight of legal scholarship, including the eminent Lawrence Tribe. Do a search; this has been discussed at length before.

Problem is that this Prof gets access to a major media outlet and is presented as some kind of authority: "Robert Spitzer, a professor of political science at the State University of New York and author of a number of books including The Politics of Gun Control (1995; 2nd ed. 1998) joined us today to discuss this issue. Spitzer testified last year before Congress on gun control and the meaning of the Second Amendment."
 
Yup. It's "...the right OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Comment to Mr. Spitzer - You are an ignorant, simpering, pseudo-intellectual moron.

If he did his research he would know that all men and women who are citizens of the U.S and between the ages of 18 and 65(I believe thats the cut off) are part of the unorganized militia here in NY. I'm not sure about other states. In NY we have the organized militia(NYG and the National guard until they are federalized,etc) and the unorganized miltia which consists of about everyone else. See you're in a militia group and might not even know it :)

He claimed the courts have never overturned laws on Second Ammendment grounds. A lie. There were many laws that were overturned on Second Ammendment grounds, such as concealed carry laws, in the 1800s. And let's not forget Emerson.
