Problems with TSA?

I am going home to California for the summer and am planning on taking my Ruger P85 with me for a hunting trip. I was wondering if anyone would know of any problems getting the weapon through the airport given that I AM of legal possesion age BUT have hi-cap 15 round mags (illegal in California) and do not have the gun registered. I am guessing they will not even look or care as long as the weapon is unloaded and locked up in cargo. However, I do not want to find out the hard way that they do care. Thanks.

I would worry more about California law enforcement's view of a (part-time) resident with an unregistered pistol with hi-caps than I would the TSA. Might want to talk to the local PD before you head home.

I'm a bit unclear on your residence as you list the PRK and Ohio. Standard capacity magazines are NOT illegal here. They are now illegal to import and sell. However, if it was in your possession IN California prior to January 1, 2000 they are legal.

Contact the California DOJ for clarification. I am not clear on the rules for folks visiting the PRK from out of state.

There are NO restrictions on the importation and sale of any hi-cap mags, any longer in the state of OH or KY. I can see Cincinnati out of my front window and I live in Northern KY.

I left Ga with my pistol to go on a hunting trip.

When I was returning from NY, the TSa called the sherrif on me and had me arrested for unlawful possession. It was illeagle in NY.

Know the law where yu are going and save yourself a lot of headaches.
