Problems with my Taurus Tracker .17hmr...

Hello there, I have recently traded for a Tracker in .17HMR and after a thorough inspection noticed a couple of things that might be an issue. At first glance I spotted some small places that I believe to be surface rust or some other type of stain. Upon further inspection I noticed a couple more possibly serious issues. 1) To the right of where the hammer seats itself there seems to be a crack in the frame. I'm not to familiar with revolvers and I don't know if this is normal or not.

2) The screw that holds the cylinder release is marred and tends to rattle like something is not right internally. Like I said, I am not familiar with revolvers especially the Taurus Tracker and may be over reacting but if not is there a way to fix this or will Taurus fix/trade it as part of the lifetime warranty? All info is greatly appreciated and thanks for your help ahead of time.

1. Crack in frame: This is the side plate that allows the internals to be acessed when removed. Supposed to be there.

2. Rust spots: Stainless steel isn't. Use Flitz or oooo steel wool to remove.

3. Cylinder relaes loose; Some play is normal. The screw is a shoulder screw so the cylinder release will slide in it's slot. As long as the screw is tight it's probably O.K.If it is judged to be too sloppy a very thin washer under the head of the screw will help. Be sure to use the right screwdriver so you don'twreck the screw any more.

I'm aware of the side plate but was wondering more about the gap in the hammer well. It seems to larger than the rest by about 1/32 of an inch. just didnt know if it was damage or normal. When I can get my hands on a better camera I'll post some more detailed pics.
