Problems with my Sig

Hello everybody,
My new p226 fails to lock the slide back after the last shot quite regularly.
Anyone have a guess to what the problem is?
Thanks in advance
Dave

Sorry, should have included that in my first post. I'm using factory 10 rounders. I have 2 mags and it's doing it with both of them.

Have you tried different types of ammo. Mine would do the same thing on cheaper fast buring ammo. UMC's I think it was.

Greeting's All,

Also, check and make sure the magazine's are seated flush with
the magazine well. Sometimes it's quite possible for a retracting
slide to pick-up a fresh round; although the magazine isn't seated
correctly.

Somebody having functional problems with a Sig???

I thought that was impossible, from what others have posted about them. :D

lonegunman,

I would bet it's a magazine problem, and not a gun problem?

I had this same problem with my 226. unload the mag and push down on the front of the follower. I bet it doesn't lift all the way up on it's own. All it took was slightly bending up the top loop of the spring slightly in the front to make the spring fully contact the follower and the problem was solved until I got new springs for the mags.

Ala Dan:

I actually agree with you it does sound like a mag problem, but it was happening with 2 different factory mags.

I will give the Sig the benefit of the doubt though, reliablity isnt a problem in general.

But one day, somebody is going to have a problem with a Sig, and when I hear about it I am going to be all over it!!

Hey, and by the way, the Sig 220 is the best 45 auto out there, right after the 1911 and Glock 30 :D

Hey lonegunman,

theres absolutely nothing wrong with a good
1911 or Glock; or H&K USP for that matter.:)
I happen to know a fellow who shoot's a 1911
style Norinco, mighty well!!!:D And he's got
about half as much money invested, as I have
in my Sig P220!!! Plus, he's about $150.00 to
the better side of a Glock 21. Outstanding
accuracy is obtainable, with this Norinco.

Best Wishes,

I'm an idiot

Thanks all for your feedback,
Upon careful inspection of my grip, it's quite likely that my right thumb is pulling down on the slide stop lever. I've got pretty big hands and it just seems like a natural place for my thumb to rest.
This forum is great, someone five thousand miles away can tell me what is right infront of my face.
And shame on you lonegunman, for thinking the Sig was malfunctioning.;)
