Problems with my Radom P35

I field stripped my Radom today for the first time, cleaned it, oiled it, and reassembled it.
Everything went fine ... or so I thought.

I cycled it a few times and everything functioned fine.
Then I locked back the slide and pulled the guide rod as I would for the dis-assembly, and it slid right out. :confused:

When first dis-assembling the pistol, I noticed the guide rod spring was captured, like on my Glock. I simply oiled it and didn't really mess with it.
I did notice the hole through the side but didn't think too much of it.
Am I missing a part?
Is there supposed to be a pin or something in that hole?

I can pull the slide back but only to the point of where the take-down latch is.

Do any of you guys know how I can dis-assemble the pistol without the guide rod? Or do I need to take this to a gunsmith?
 
I know how to take down the gun and reassemble it.
It looks as though the guide rod is missing some sort of retainer and that's why it just slid out. Thanks for the video though.

The guide rod is key when disassembling the gun.
Now that it's removed, I'm at a loss. :confused:
 
Never mind ... fixed it.

I cut a hook out of a small screwdriver and used it to capture the guide rod spring. This released pressure off the slide release and allowed it to push right out. Then I was REALLY lucky and found the small retaining pin inside.
I reassembled the guide rod/spring assembly using a clamp, then reassembled this pistol.

It seems to be fine now, but I think I'll keep my eye out for a spare guide rod assembly, just in case. ;)

Ditto what Gyvel said. You lose that pin and you're pretty much dead in the water.

Keep an eye on it when you're shooting to make sure that it doesn't work its way out.

I just ordered a spare guide rod assembly (extension, pin, guide rod, and spring) from Numrich for $26!!! :)

Folks on GunBroker are asking over $100! :eek:

Need to check GPC again to see if they have the extractor back in stock.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is "GPC"?
And are you trying to tell me that you need an extractor?
Or that I should consider getting a spare?

Upon inspection, mine looks to be in really good shape.
Are they known to go bad in these models?

I need an extractor because mine apparently has gone bad. Some years ago it started skipping over the rim of shells during extraction, causing jams.

Whether that's a problem part or not, I don't know, but I've never heard of anyone else having a problem with it.
