Problems with Black Powder revolver`

Can anyone give me some tips on breaking an open frame CVA colt-replica revolver? The manual says to "tap the wedge out from the right side, then . . . " But the wedge won't move, even with a mallet! I'm not sure what model of revolver it is, I believe the Navy model, with open frame, in .44 caliber. I don't want to try to force this wedge out if I can help it. The wedge protrudes a half inch from the left side of the frame, with a screw directly above it, riding in a depression in the wedge. On the right side, it is almost flush with the frame, and has a tension bar that seems to hold the wedge in. However, even when applying force to the bar and striking the wedge, it doesn't seem to move at all. Thank you for any help you can give me.

On my CVA 1851 Navy I have to remove the screw above the wedge then tap down and out on the tensoin bar. Hope this helps.
