Remington ammunition has been some of the most consistent that I have ever used, as far as standard (non-premium) fodder.
Remington "Express" ammo with plain old Core-Lokts (green/yellow box) is what I, and every gunsmith that I know, use as 'reference' ammunition for establishing a baseline, breaking in new rifles, fire-forming reference cases for improved chambers, or falling back on if all else fails. (Drove halfway across the country for a hunting trip and left your ammo on the kitchen table? Grab some Core-Lokts. Can't get the rifle to shoot anything? Try some Core-Lokts -- if they won't shoot at least moderately well, nothing will.)
I don't recall ever having a bad cartridge, either (be it caused by bad brass, screwed up primers, improper powder charge, etc). That says a lot, considering that their component Core-Lokts and component brass are not just terribly inconsistent and plagued by defects, but that I've had serious (dangerous) issues with every other major ammunition manufacturer's products.
It is absolutely not the end-all-be-all, but it has served me very well over the years and doesn't change radically from lot to lot, like some other manufacturers' products.
