Problem with new gun...

I picked up my new Ruger MK II Govt. Model today after waiting the week. I didn't really look at it again in the store. It was still in the box. But when I finally got home I noticed that there is a nick in the end of the barrel - On the side, corner. Would not affect performance, but there is a definite nick. I'm almost positive that it wasn't there when I looked at it and purchased it the first time. This is my first *new* gun and I wanted it to be perfect. Really disappointed. Is there any recourse? They have another one in stock again, how hard is it to switch for them?

- Thanks

If you really use and practice with your gun, it will probably get a few more nicks. This doesn't sound like a collectors piece, sounds more like a "work gun", so it probably won't adversely affect its value. I understand it "stings" a little getting a scratch...sort of like getting the first ding in a new car. But it does happen.

On the other hand, if it really bothers you, talk to the dealer or call Ruger. Ruger has an excellent service reputation.

Like the first dent in a new car. You worry a lot and get over it. If you had caught the nick at the store, you could have refused the gun, but afterwards... Unless the dealer is a good friend or you are a good customer, it probably is your gun.

FWIW, I have heard "it was that way when I got it" two years after the sale.
