Problem with Chip McCormick Power Mags

I just got 2 Power mags in the mail today and loaded them up(8rds) into my Sistema Colt. With the slide locked back and if I insert the mag into the gun and release the slide lock, the first round gets jammed sometimes.I am using Federal Hydra-Shocks.I have also polished the feed ramp and barrel a little bit.I do not have any problems with the plastic snap caps loading into the chamber.Do I need to install a heavier recoil spring to compensate for the Power spring in the new mags or do I need to find a different brand of defense ammo?I have not done any live firing yet because I was waiting for the new Power mags.If anyone has some useful suggestions I would be glad to hear them.

Many thanks,

Kris

It generally takes more than just polishing the feed ramp to get non-FMJ/hardball to feed well in stock 1911s. (Custom guns have a lot of work done to them to ensure reliability when firing hollow points, etc.)

I doubt that the problem is magazines.

You might want to take it to a local gunsmith and see what he says. The Sistema is a quality gun, despite the relatively low price -- so its worth investing a bit more to get it right.

(My McCormick mags are some of the best I've used...)

Try a magazine or two of Remington Golden Sabers, or the earlier style Remington JHP's, they were designed to closely follow the ogive of ball ammo (230 grain FMJ's). The rounds voted most likely to feed in an unaltered 1911A1.
