Problem with AR15A2 carry handle scope mount

I purchased a DPMS scope mount for my A2 just to see how well the rifle would group.

I mounted a Bushnell scope which had previously performed well on other bolt guns, and used weaver rings. Now, I believe I'm right to say neither the mount or rings provide any adjustment for windage or elevation, right?

I found I was shooting WAY low and right. Bottem line is I could not get enough elevation and left adjustment to be able to hit the 2'X 3' cardboard which held my target at 100 yds.

Am I missing something here or is there some trick I am not aware of?

Guess I should add the rifle groups 2" @ 100yds using iron sights. :(

I too, recently mounted a scope mount on my 16" Bushmaster carry handle.

Turns out the scope mount itself was so bad that I too ran out of windage and elevation with my scope.

I had to shim the mounts to get them to give me enough adjustment to use the scope.

Elkslayer, I'm not familiar with that mount but I'd contact DPMS and see if you should have to shim or if it's possibly mounted incorrectly. George

I have sent an email to DPMS about this problem to see if they have any suggestions.

It is good to hear that others have experienced this as well.

Stick with your iron sights.....carry handle scope mounts are very unreliable. They never seem to go on exactly the same way every time.

Scope on carry handle pretty iffy. Often have to shim to get within adjustment range of scope. Repeatability and stability not good. Difficult to make a mount that works on em all cause there may not be any two carry handles alike.

Really good and consistant accuracy with scope would probably require a cheeck piece added.

Almost hate to say this...are you sure the mount is oriented the right way? If you are suing what I think you are, (the mount that has one screw that goes through the hole in the handle and accepts Weaver ring mounts). There is a front and a back to it. The front will have a higher profile than the back.

Sorry...had to ask. Sort of like "My computer doesn't work..." Tech rep "Is it plugged in?"
