just wondering does anyone have first hand knowledge of the type of rifles used to down the exotic animals in ohio? The cops on the spot did a fine job in a terrible situation. I understand some were killed by pistol fire but wondering what type of rifles were on hand? Surely they did not down a grizzly with a .223-- or did they? I hope someone has information.
thanks

Probably some combination of .223, .308, and 12ga.

Poachers in Africa kill elephants with AK-47s. If you pour enough lead into an animal it will die.

thanks you are awesome!
12 gauge slugs sounds like good medicine

.308 also sounds good with good shot placement

It's funny mr awesome because I'm into firearms of course, my Dad is retired from the cops having bossmanned for 34 years. .. We discussed it and he said " ... 'tAK, these were apparently regular guys... Maybe they had some access to the swat team guns , MAYBE ... and I said , they probabay had the " sniper rifles "'assigned to swat,
Most likely .308 Win Rem 700s and the shotguns in their cruisErs. Lol in Effect nil called it

Sounds like one officer and his trusty .223 carbine dispatched a few large cats and other animals. I have killed deer with mine so I wouldnt feel undergunned but would be glad to have a 20-30rd. magazine in a situation like that.
