Pro-RKBA Story on Sacramento News!

I couldn't believe what I saw on the local news here in Sacramento, the Kapitol City of Kalifornia last night... A news anchor sounding like a TFL'er! (well, almost anyway...) The story itself was about a 16 or 17 year old girl that was training to be an Olympic shooter, who was now a "criminal" thanks to SB23 (our new "assault-weapons ban). Her target pistol accepts a magazine outside the pistol grip, and as such, is now classified as an assault weapon. Nothing too new, right? For those of you who have heard this story before, this is the same girl who Dan Perata, the author of SB23, told to "move to Texas if you don't like it". In any case, the news anchor went on to say that the police he had spoken with confirmed that these types of firearms have never been linked to any crime. Now the big shock - I nearly fell out of my seat for this one - The news anchor commented on the fact that this new legislation is pointless and ridiculous since it targets 'cosmetic features' that have no effect whatsoever on the firearms effectiveness, and that these features don't make the gun shoot any more bullets, or make them shoot any faster. He actually seemed to be making fun of the new law and making a point to show that is it a worthless piece of legislation likely to have little or no effect on crime, and that the real effect of SB23 has been to make criminals out of otherwise good, law abiding individuals. Is this the latest example of the tide turning in our favor, or just a "freak occurance"? Maybe all is not lost in California after all....

Yes, please tell us the station. I usually watch channel 3, and don't recall hearing it there, but I also didn't watch much of the news yesterday. Also, do you remember who the reporter was? Gee, I'm not asking for too much here, am I?! ;)

It was on channel 11 out of Sac. The local FOX affiliate. The only thing that would have made it better would be if they had included that dumb comment by Perata.

Find out the reporters name, and please post the stations contact info, so that we may commend the station, and new reporter for accurately reporting a story.

Maybe we can request that he do a follow up with Perata...

FWIW, here is the original story for those that missed it...

Wonder how many of the states legislators who supported this weak bill caught the report? ;)
