Well, I gone and done it! I got the new Archangel Marauder stock kit from Pro Mag for my lil' ol' Ruger 10/22! $154 off gunbroker... Omega Outfitters or something to that nature.

All in all, I'd say that I'm pretty happy with the kit. It seems to be well built and sturdy, and I'm sure it'll hold up to any abuse I can throw at it. Kit comes with the folding stock to make your 10/22 look very much like an HK G36! Also in the box is a 25-round mag, an aluminum "flash hider", a fake suppressor, a bag of small parts including an extended bolt catch and mag release, and a set of simple instructions. All hardware is included. But you will need a couple allen wrenches.

[There's a few good videos out there that show how to assemble this, so I decided not to clog this thread with too many pictures]

Assembly is relatively easy and no 'permanent' modification was needed to either the rifle or the stock kit, but the factory iron sights will need to be removed (if you have a factory barrel). The instructions are helpful and well thought out, and if you follow them carefully, you'll have no issue putting this kit together. The only thing I had to deviate from was, on my rifle, I had to remove the hammer in order to install the extended bolt catch lever...no big deal there. Also, the aft (of four) small screws that thread into the top of the receiver could not be installed, as the hole in the stock was slightly off. I'm not worried about that either, since the other three hold it down very snug. And I did strip one of the rail attach bolts, but that was just me ham-fisting it.

Magazines. The kit comes with one AA922 25-round mag that has an optional 5.56 dress-up sleeve that fits over the outside of the mag. Looks really cool when installed in the Marauder kit! This is optional, and without it, the mag will work in any 10/22. On a side note, this sleeve simply will not work with my rifle without shaving a little off the rear section...more on that later, I'm sure I can correct that with little effort. So far, I've put 125 rounds of Federal bulk...(yes, Federal BULK, for all you CCI guys)...through it and NOT A SINGLE JAM, MISFEED, OR MISFIRE! ZERO. (I should mention, my rifle has the Volquartzen extractor...the single most important upgrade you can do to your 10/22 in my opinion.) Looks like this is a good mag, unlike most of the aftermarket 10/22 mags available. And...it can be disassembled for maintenance. Although, it does have plastic feed lips, which many of us despise, and refuse to use. But...the lips come off and are replaceable if they wear out, so we'll see how long they last. Maybe in the future ProMag will sell these mags with steel feed lips...but not yet. I hear the guys at Archangel are extremely helpful in resloving any mag issues. Oh, one more thing on mags: the factory Ruger 10-round mags will work with this kit, but they're a bear to get out, so I opt not to. I haven't tried the new Ruger BX-25 mags yet, but I'm sure they'll work great.

I opted for the fake suppressor instead of the fat-looking "flash hider"...personal preference. FYI, the fake suppressor only fits 18" barrels.

The sights are adjustable, and dual aperature, but I personally don't care for them. They're usable, but I'd say so-so at best. The good news is the stock has a picatinny top rail, so dropping on a good, but inexpensive red dot will do the trick for me. Again, personal preference.

Pros:
-This is one bad-a** looking kit, one of the coolest for the 10/22!
-Well built, well engineered, very sturdy and tight fitting
-Relatively easy to install, with no permanent modification to your rifle
-Stock has two storage compartments...one in the grip, and one under the folding stock (accessible only in folded position)
-Magazine seems to be quality
-Picatinny top rail, so optics will be an easy upgrade over the so-so sights
-Multiple sling attach points (QD) and a picatinny rail on the bottom of the handgaurd
-Fully funtional in the folded position (oppressed states beware!)

Cons:
-Field stipping the rifle for cleaning will require disassembling the stock kit. (This may be a huge turn-off for some)
-The magazine dress-up sleeve is sketchy at best, rattles a little, and may need some extra fitting. Good news on that is it's optional.
-Price. ($199 MSRP) Only you can decide if it's worth almost as much as a new 10/22...I got mine for $154 shipped.
-Sights are so-so. Not junk, but just ok. Top rail is picatinny, so a red dot will drop right on.

There you have it. My humble, NON EXPERT opinion. If you want to make your boring old 10/22 look like a modern, zombie-killing, evil, black, HK G36 without putting some cheap airsoft toy parts on it...here ya go!! Is it worth the cost? Maybe. I like mine.

One thing I might add...the safety on the stock is fake and non-functional. However, the original cross-bolt safety that came with the rifle from the factory is still accessible and functional.

"So don't freak out and call your lawyers"!

That thing looks Awesome!! :D

I would give it a thumbs up in my book a little spendy but how can you put a price on all the stares you will get at the local shooting range.

I see you added a red dot, but what was accuracy like with the irons? Was it comparable to the 10/22 in stock configuration, or degraded due to the shorter sight radius and location on the polymer rail? I know accuracy isn't the point of this stock, but just curious.

Also, how sturdy is the attachment of the red dot to the polymer rail? Does the zero wander at all?

Irons to irons (plastics) is a downgrade. But the top rail actually has an aluminum core, so mounting the red dot seems pretty solid. As for the NcStar sight...we'll see after some use. So far, after a couple hundred rounds, it seems to be holding zero just fine.
