Pro-Gun Sheriff Wins Re-election

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has won re-election. Many of you may remember Sheriff Clarke as the man who encouraged citizens to get training and buy a gun so they could defend themselves until police arrive. The race attracted a lot of outside attention including Michael Bloomberg who donated $150,000 of the $500,000+ donated to defeat Sheriff Clarke. The NRA also got involved supporting the sheriff who thanked Chris Cox and the NRA-ILA for their support. The attached article notes that while his opponent received large donations Sheriff Clarke received a number of smaller $20, $50 and $100 donations.

I suppose we can call this a victory of sorts for gun rights and those that support those rights. However, it’s important to note that this was a very close election, so we need to stay vigilant and keep working.

I need to run a campaign against a pro-2A sheriff/politician, get funding from Bloomberg and then blow all the money on range trips. :D

More seriously, glad Bloomberg's boy lost and that a pro-2A sheriff won.

Seeing over a half million bucks being spent on a County Sheriff election is pretty disturbing, to me. Is this normal, there?

No, Kilimanjaro. It isn't

From what I hear, Bloomberg's cash outlay was larger than the campaign chests of both candidates.

Bloomberg cannot see that the only people that thinks he's the cat's meow are those on his payroll.

Good to hear. now if only we could also push out the yahoo's higher up the totem pole.

We'll see come mid-term elections I suppose.

Glad to hear Bloomberg is wasting his money. Maybe he'll come to his senses when his useless outlays amount to a couple of billions.

He'll will freeze over and Diane Feinstein will join the NRA and become a 2A advocate before Bloomie "comes to his senses" Killi

Perhaps, but the more pressing lesson is the one the policy makers are seeing: all of Bloomberg's money isn't enough to sway an election, and the guy might just be poison for a campaign.

I hate to burst your bubble, but he did NOT win reelection. He won the Democratic primary. He will probably win the election, but it hasn't happened yet.

This was a monsterous win for pro gunners in Wisconsin. Clarke has fought tooth and nail against the antis in SE Wisconsin. There was double the turnout(over 110,000 votes cast) that there was 4 years ago. There are already rumblings of him running for mayor, which would be awesome.

Bloomberg alone put over $150,000 into ads for this election. Milwaukee county executive Chris Abele(very anti gun) had his super pac put in $400,000. Granted, Clarke had some support too, but i think the NRA and Citizens for Responsible Government and Citizens for Urban Justice put in a combined total of around $100,000.

Correct. He is not facing a republican opponent, he only has an independent opponent who i have never heard of.

Glad to hear Bloomberg is wasting his money.

No. He's just spreading the wealth amount a bunch of anti-gun grunts who work for him. People like Bloomberg feeding mini-bloombergs....not a good thing.

It was Milwaukee County which includes the city of Milwaukee, West Allis, Wauwatosa and others. It has a population of close to one million people, which amounts to almost 1/6th the population of the whole state.

Wisconsin voters are to be commended for not allowing Bloomberg to sway and election with his money to push his anti gun agenda.
