Pro Gun Rights Groups

stockpile

New member
I'm a college student and I'm new member of the NRA and GOA. I've been lurking on this message board for months and this is my first post. The more I read about ATF killing people in their beds and the politicians trampling our god given rights, the more I want to fight back. My question is what other pro gun rights groups should I join. I live in Ohio are there also any state focused groups I should join. Web addresses would be helpful.

Thanks,
Erik

Welcome to The Firing Line, Erik. :)

I'm in Ohio too and would recommend Ohioans For Concealed Carry as a group to get involved with locally.

Also The Ohio Gun Collectors Association is a private group you can join if you know somebody who is a member.

Nationally, I would recommend NRA and GOA whom you have already joined. There are others too, check out:
Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership
Second Amendment Foundation
Second Amendment Sisters
Mother's Arms
Keep And Bear Arms.com

I'm sure there are others, but these are the first ones that came to my mind.

Hope to see you on the OFCC mailing list... :)

Roll your own

Once you get up to speed with your research and exposure to what the more established Ohio groups are doing (the big national ones are often too big and slow to do anything in time), you can look into snagging 3 or 5 of your closest activist-buddies and start your own group of malcontents who like to show up at City Council meetings or your local legsicritter's home office and pepper them with tart questions and discovery demands.

Much more valuable than joining a host of pro-rights groups is volunteering your time and your energy to these causes and groups. Writing letters to the media and your legislative reps, helping with administrative work, and passing along relevant news to fellow members (especially via forums like this one) are all helpful.

Doubtless all of the organizations can use the money and the extra member but your time and energy are a LOT more valuable and donating a little bit of that can go a lot further.
