Pro Gun Lawsuits in Jeopardy -- If we each just sent one dollar...

CLDF Supporters,

January marks the one year anniversary of the Civil Liberties Defense Foundation. CLDF was formed to educate and litigate on behalf of the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. We chose as our initial endeavor a lawsuit against 31 cities that have been trying since 1998 to bankrupt the gun industry and destroy our right to keep and bear arms.

We were confident at the time, that such a lawsuit would garner the support of gun rights organizations, gun stores and gun owners from across the nation and that we would ultimately be successful in eliminating this ominous threat to our freedom. A threat which we predicted would cost upwards of half a million dollars to vanquish.

Since January of 2000, former Senator Jerry Patterson and Representatives Suzanna Hupp, Rick Green, and Bob Turner, have worked tirelessly - traveling to various fundraisers, appearing on numerous talk shows, and speaking to whomever would listen - in an effort to raise awareness and enough money to enable the Foundation to proceed with its lawsuit to protect the Second Amendment.

Despite a lack of support from most gun rights organizations and almost all of the gun stores we contacted, we were able to raise enough money from concerned citizens and incensed patriots like yourselves to finally file the lawsuit on November 16, 2000.

Although raising the money to have the lawsuit researched, drafted, and filed was a significant accomplishment for which we owe you many thanks, we still have not raised enough money to carry us through a lengthy litigation process against 31 cities and the state of New York. For that reason, we have refrained from serving the defendants with the paperwork necessary to proceed with the case. Once we do that, we will be locked-in to a battle we currently don't have the resources to win.

The CLDF Board of Directors has concluded that if we are unable to raise at least $100,000 by the service of process deadline two weeks from now, we will be forced to withdraw the case and live to fight another day. Given the amount of time, resources, and emotion we have committed to this project, we are not pleased with this turn of events.

We are desperately searching for a knight in shining armor to come to the rescue of this lawsuit and our right to keep and bear arms; however, our hope is beginning to fade. We have arranged several meetings with potential benefactors and will do our best over the next couple of weeks to insure that our effort has not been in vain. We need you to do the same. We need you to redouble your efforts to inform people about the seriousness of this issue and the need for the average American to pull his or her head out of the sand and realize what must be done to preserve our liberty. What needs to be done costs money and there is simply no away around that fact; we wish there was.

Remember - freedom is not free, nor is justice cheap.

We need your help to continue this fight.

Because of the the severe shortage of time, we need you and those you contact, to visit our website at http://www.LibertyDefense.com and make a donation online. We simply cannot proceed without your help and support.

Sincerely,

Trey J. Blocker Executive Director

$100,000 needed in 2 weeks;

8500 TFL members;

= $11.76 per member...

That's 2 pints of Shiner boys and girls... you're gonna drink that this weekend anyway.

Sickening that one must have vast somes of MONEY to freely exercise ones RIGHTS provied for in the BORs. Guess the First Amendment only applies if you can PAY for it :(

Article I.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

And we don't wnat to loose our cushy income. What do these people actually do other that fraternise with the opposition in private clubs laughing amongst themselves at the gulibility of the american public.

What are you talking about???

Kaboom,

And we don't wnat to loose our cushy income. What do these people actually do other that fraternise with the opposition in private clubs laughing amongst themselves at the gulibility of the american public.

I hope your not talking about the people who filed the CLDF lawsuit, such as former Senator Jerry Patterson and Representatives Suzanna Hupp, Rick Green, and Bob Turner!

Suzanna Hupp for example, watched as her parents were gunned down in a Texas Luby's cafeteria and was very instrumental in getting the CHL law passed in Texas. She has also testified very eloquebtly before Congress against various gun control bills. All of these people are very dedicated progun activists who hold "other" jobs to put food on the table.

How about sending them five dollars... or don't you want to get off of your cushy sofa?

Joe

nralife, I think Kaboom's comments were directed at the people out there who can afford to support this issue, and aren't doing anything worth while...... At least that's what I hope was his intent?

Like it or not I said exactly what I meant. Just what has people like James Jay Baker and others of his ilk done to deserve the salary they draw. Last time I checked we had just a little more firearm regulation that the year before. They talk like they are really accomplishing something but the results don't seem to be there. 300,000 thousand dollars to one candidate on the loosing side comes to mind. Those like Rich the TFL head dog that are fighting with their own money I will gladly support when they win. I an not going to support anybody who doesn't accomplish anything but make themselves a nice living.

Whatever

twenty bucks ain't that much.

Actions speak louder than posts.

Rep. Hupp came to Carver, MA to support a rally against an anti-CCW police chief.

The rally was very successful. The chief has since rescinded her position.

CLDF has earned their money and respect.

I'm in. Credit card donations can be made online. Donations are tax deductible (501(c)(3) non-profit legal foundation).

Done $15.00 It`s not much, but it`s about what I spent for the TFL hat to cover my bald head.:)
I could do without the hat and just cover my bald head with a rag, but I can`t do much to protect my 2nd without people like Suzanna Hupp and Jerry Patterson and others, it takes all of us to support the leaders in our fight. Cough it up it aint going to hurt.

Sent $20.00

I hope they use it wisely. It is a shame that we are being forced to part with our hard earned mula to fight for a birth right. Oh well, maybe we can win some small battles now so we don't have to fight with our guns rather than our pocket books. It still seems like a shame that we have lost our way on freedom's road. It used to be America's road, but there are so many potholes in that road now, that I am not sure we can claim it anymore.
