Private sales of handguns and rifles.

Here in California (of course) a private sale of a gun MUST be transferred through a FFL holder.

Is this the case in Nevada also? How about other states? Is there any state where a gun can be legally sold to another person?

In North Carolina, you must have a sheriff-issued permit to buy a gun, at least in certain counties, regardless of who is buying and selling.

In Michigan you need a permit to purchase issued by either your locak PD or the local Sheriff's Department to purchase a handgun from anyone, private sale or from a gun dealer. Rifles and shotguns are free market, 4473 and NICS from dealers and nothing a private sale.

AZ transfer private to private is unrestricted.I will not sell to out of state or anybody I don't think should have a gun.I don't sell much but I am very careful.

FL private sales unrestricted (with the obvious exception of Class III).

Joseph, this is correct only with regard to handguns. No permits are needed for private transfers of rifles or shotguns.

No restrictions on any private sales here in Wisconsin. We can thank some of our newly-elected representatives for RKBA legislation.

Ohio: No restrictions on private sales of handguns or long guns. A smart seller will still get pertinent info on a buyer, just to cover his own butt.

Not alll firearm transfers in California have to go through a dealer. Rifles or shotguns on the C&R list and over 50 years old can be transferred without going through a dealer.
