Private sale of handguns?

Hi guys, I've got a question for you.

I've got a friend who offered to buy an old smith I picked up when I began shooting, but he is not 21 years old. In the state of Illinois, is it legal for a non-dealer to sell a handgun to a FOID holder under the age of 21? I've looked for the information online but I can't find the black and white information I'm looking for.

The short answer to your question, though is "no." He cannot take ownership of the pistol until he is 21. http://www.isp.state.il.us/foid/firearmsfaq.cfm

Ditto to what Blue said.

If you resided in the state of Oregon, the transfer of the gun to a person under 21, with his or her parents consent, is legal. Yet, in the state of IL, you have all this foid card BS as well as other BS.

Blue gave you the links and they are correct. My advice, either get rid of daley in chicago or move.
