Hi everyone, my girlfriend is doing a report on the film "Iraq for Sale" for her ethics class. Can you please help answer these questions? Thanks.

Have you been personally affected by Private Contractors in Iraq?

What is your experience with Private Contractors in Iraq?

Is there a noticeable presence of Private Contractors in Iraq?

Are you in the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, or Air Force?

What affects have Private Contractors had on your military job?

1. Not personally.
2. n/a
3. I've heard and read some articles on them but I don't know how prevalent their presence is.
4. Marine Corps DEP so no, not yet :p
5. again n/a

I just wanted to point out something here. I really don't know how I feel about mercenaries in Iraq (let's not mince words here). On the one hand I hear they're adding valuable resources to the conflict and these guys are highly trained and deserve to put their skills to use.

On the other hand I don't know if they're held to the same standards. Do we want guys over there fighting without having to face the same kinds of regulations our soldiers and Marines do? If a bunch of Blackwater guys decide to shoot some random folks from a rooftop (I seem to remember a video...) how do we know they're targeting hostiles and not going a little overboard on target practice? Do we want them representing America - and they do represent us when they fight alongside our men and women - when they're not being held to the same standards?

I'm not saying they're dishonorable or bloodthirsty, no more or less than our folks in uniform, but what kind of oversight do they have? With the military there's a chain of command and if someone screws up there's a good chance people will find out about it and the screwups brought to justice. Does the same apply to these guys?

btw, I do respect those who are willing to risk their lives over there to help out our people in uniform, I just want to know if they're representing our country as they should be
