Is $950 new in the box for a winchester SX3 a good price. It is the synthetic stock with 3.5'' capability which personally i think is a little overboard. Its sold on onlinegundeals.com. I think its a great price but I think I want a wood one what do you guys think?

About that price is average for the NIB SX3 like you describe. The wood and 3" chambered versions can occasionally be found for slightly less. You might get lucky with a NIB for about $800 on GunsAmerica - but then you will have to pay transfer and FFL fees. Depending on where you buy the SX3 - Winchester is kicking in $100 worth of stuff if bought from same store as gun. A used or ANIB is still going to be high $700 and mid $800.

Good gun - I have a wood furniture 3" model SX3 - very light recoil. I like it - but I just prefer my O/U.
