Price on used Gold Cup

Guy at my range is selling a used Model 70 Gold Cup for $700. Gun has not been worked on. Someone else has a used Model 80 with all the bells and whistles for $900. Are these prices reasonable? Is the Model 70 better than the 80? Fired a .45 for the first time yesterday(Les Baer Custom) and now I gotta have one. What questions should I ask?

In my opinion the 70 is the better pistol, In a Colt 1911 pistol the fewer changes the manufacturer has made in John Browning's original design, the better.

How used is it? Does it have a box with papers? I thought they were around $600 as a shooter grade gun in 95% condition. I would be looking at a $500 gun in 85%-90% personally. Depends on whether you really want a GC and what you want it for. If you are a Colt collector and need a NIB gun for your collection it would be worth that. If you plan on shooting it remember that the rear sight is going to come off eventually.

Well A NIB Gold Cup will run you about 1600-1700. That is if you can find them. Only place I know of that is still getting Colts is Kiesler's In Jeffersonville IN. And they only get a trickle.

My Dad got a Gold Cup National Match 80 Series (I think) for $ 500 and it had 3 original mags. The price sounds a little steep to me.
