Price on a Colt Walker

Opinions guys: Is $800 a good asking price for a Colt signature series Walker in new condition with all the trimmings (presentation boxes, powder flask, bullet mold etc.)? I'm looking for a shooter and not a safe queen but I really do like the Colts much better than the Italian jobs.

How 'bout a like new Colt 1860 Army (.36 cal I think) signature series for $500?

Thanks,
Oly

To give you a point of reference:

2007 5th Edition Blue Book lists the Sig Series Walker NIB (unfired, unturned) value at $650. Case and accessories would run another $300.

In same book, a NIB 1860 is $600. One at 98% is $450 and 90% is $350.

The 1860 is a .44 Cal.

Thanks fingahs!

They're both unfired/like new and, I suspect, well priced but I'm having a hard time with the $800 for the Walker since I want it for shooting and don't honestly give a hoot about the frippary. Some buffoon turned the cylinder and put a good line on it so it's not going to flip a collector's lid either.

Mostly hmmm....

Cheers,
Oly

By the way, just so you know the colts are italian made also! they are just assembled in the USA

I don't think I would say they are Italian made. The raw forgings were imported from Italy. Machining, small parts, assemble and inspection all done here in the USA.

$800 for a Walker with a turn line is way to much, even with the Colt accessory package and case. Open top Colts should not have a turn line, that revolver may have a problem or have been mishandled. Dropping the hammer from half cock well do it.

Blue Book for the Walker @ 98% is $525, and @ 90% is $415. I'd say with a healthy turn line, everything else being good, the value of just the Walker is somewhere in between.

Like MCB said, The Walker could have a timing problem; someone mishandled it to get the turn line; or, at least didnt know enough not to let the hammer down from half cock.

Thanks again folks.

Yes, the turn line was actually pronounced enough that I wondered how that could happen. No wear in the locking holes though and everything else looked brand new. The fit and finish on these Colt Signature Series revolvers is just soooo nice. I suppose it's actually not very "authentic" but at some point you don't care and just love what a great looking piece it is.

Still, think I'll wait either for a better deal on a shooter or for the price on this one to come down.

Much obliged,
Oly

Just as a reference point, I within the last month purchased an 1851 Colt Navy with Colt presentation case and all the fixings unfired, for $500 off of GunBroker. And a Colt Signature Series Dragoon 2nd Generation in original box, unfired, for $375 from Guns and Treasures.

So they are out there at reasonable prices.

Quoting K.A.T.: I will be listing a Signature Series Colt 1860

I saw your ASP 1860, are you putting up a Colt Signature Series 1860 in the future?

As for the the Walker, it is a fine piece. But the original request, for which we have been quoting prices on, is for a Colt "Signature Series" From the pictures the model you are selling does not appear to be a Colt "Signature Series" model.

Does it have Colt's signature on the backstrap? It would be a great selling point to add to your description if it is so.

KAT's Walker is a 2nd gen Colt. The 2nd gen books much higher than the 3rd gen(signature series)

HEY FINGERS, my 2nd gen Walker has the raw cylinder. I don't see that in my book, is it in yours?

Raw?? or blank?? None of my references list a 2nd Gen Walker with a blank cylinder. Does the gun have a 5 digit serial number??? There were 245 made between SN 32256 and 32500. That might be a factor. Dennis Russel would be a good person to ask.

It's #3201. Cylinder has the normal roll stamp, it's just in the raw, no bluing. I was under the impression that all 2nd gen Walkers had a raw cylinder, but I'm seeing more of them with a blue, roll stamped cylinder.

OK - excuse my lame headedness. Raw - in the white - natural finish - no bluing.

None of my references say anything about any of them having a raw cylinder either. They all state that the Walker had a Blue cylinder.
