i went this morning to get a taurus 605 for $360+tax, while in the shop the guy said why not get the ruger sp101 for not much more. i asked his low dollar out the door for a new sp101, the casing envelope is dated february 2nd 2012. he came back and said $460otd well for less than $100 difference i got the ruger. did i do ok? was that a good price? i know i'm happy with the gun, but i haven't fired it yet. thanks

I'm in the Nashville area and paid $509, or there abouts, for my SP101 bobbed hammer snub in Feb. I saw it for about $480 at another gunstore, but I liked the one I bought it from better so I'm happy.

I love mine, and it is now always on my hip! Have fun with your's.

I just looked at a SP101 today at a local shop that has good prices (not discount ut never marked up either). It was $465 for a 3" stainless.

$460 OTD is a good price for a new SP101, and it's a very nice revolver if you don't mind the weight. The only problems I really recall hearing about them are canted barrels, but I'm assuming you haven't noticed anything wrong in that regards.

I just paid $499, not including tax, etc. You got a good deal IMO. Also agree that the Ruger is a MUCH better revolver than the Taurus. About the time of your first range session, you probably have been sending the Taurus back for repairs. With the Ruger, you can focus on shooting;).

$400-500 seems to be about the going price in my area. I just saw one in a local shop yesterday for $440+tax, so $460 OTD doesn't seem unreasonable in the least. Also, I think that you made a wise choice in spending the extra to get the Ruger. While I'm not a Taurus basher, Ruger does have a much better resale value should you ever decide to sell the gun and while Taurus CS seems to have a spotty reputation, Ruger's is widely recognized as top-notch.

Mine is the 3 inch barrel. Thanks

Asking reconfirmation on the subject just shows how secure of your decision is. You know you did the right thing, and I think your very happy you did.

Now you can sleep at night knowing you did the right thing, not to mention you bought USA.

Enjoy the same gun I have for HD loaded with Rem .357 SJHPs.

OK, my point is, he didn't buy an SP101, he only wish he did.

Wait... because he already owns a 605 that means he didn't buy the SP101? But according to his very first post in May of 2009, he already owns a 3" SP101... does that mean he didn't really buy the 605 in 2010? But wait... in July of 2009 he mentions having own a 605 in 2008... so maybe he really didn't buy the 2009 SP101...

I suppose the guy could be lying about his firearms purchases... but I fail to see what nefarious purpose he would have for doing so.

I have 2 sp101, 2.25 an 3.06. Purchased at separate times a year ago for 465. Have not shot the 3.06 yet. Wife carries the 2.25. Just bought a P95 yesterday for 390.
