Price of a Swedish Rifle

I have a Swedish M96 rifle built in 1900 at Obendorf (sp?) Mauser. The finish is very goo to excellent with no rust, pitting, excellent bore, etc. and the stock only has some minor dings.

I have heard that these rifles are quite rare and is worth more than ones built at Swedish factory. Can anybody tell me if this is true and what this rifle is worth. I got this rifle and 40 rounds of ammo about 12 years ago for $109 from local department store.

Mauser Obendorf made 40,000 M96 rifles, while Carl Gustaf in Sweden made 475,000 of them.
The Mauser Obendor's are not really rare and Samco has been selling them for only a $20 premium over the C.G.
I would guess that your rifle would fetch at least $200 for sure right now, as it would cost somewhat more than that, considering taxes, FFL fees, special selection fee, etc. to order it from Samco, if they still have them in stock.
Prices on Swedes are going up right now. If they run out of Masuer Obendorf's, I would expect them to take a decent price hike, as they are desirable rifles.

A recent gun show here had the Obendorf 96s for sale at the same price as the Swede...$169; in similar condition to yours.

What I would like to see -- the books say they don't exist, but you never know -- is an Oberndorf dated before 1899. That would be worth a premium!

Frankly, the Oberndorfs price higher but there's no reason to prefer them to the Swedes for shooting, and these are great shooters.
