Price for, and experiences with, Sig 239 .40?

I'm thinking of getting a 239 .40 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with said item. Also, anyone know what a good price is? I've found one for $479 and thought this was reasonable.

I'm a proud owner of a 239 .40 and love it. Do I wish the grip was alittle longer...yes...but then it would be a larger gun, more like the 225. I do however strongly recommend puting a set of Hogue rubber grips on it, they make a huge difference. I carry mine daily and have never had any FTF or any other sort of trouble with it. The normal "ammo de jour" for it is 165gr Federal Hydrashocks but I may try some 145gr Cor Bons. The price you mention sounds good. I plan on doing some IDPA shooting this fall, the 239 falls into the back-up gun division because of it's barrel length. Good Luck.

Note sure of the price (since price varies on location--in the Bay Area I frequently see them in the high 500's though). I tried the P239 in .40 and did not like it. I have the 9mm version and really like it BTW, but the .40 version had TONS of muzzle flip. The high bore axis and small grip really do not do a good job with the .40 recoil IMO. I am not recoil sensitive BTW, I shoot .45's very often and I own a .40, but IMO there are better compact .40's out there than the P239. That said, if you don't mind the muzzle flip and heavy snap, it is a good choice (accurate, reliable, typical Sig).

For me the grip is too small on the P239 and I concur about the .40 cal chambering. The P239 in 9mm is my son's choice for a concealed carry pistol. It fits his hand and is low in recoil. $479 is not bad, I would suggest that you try KY Imports or Bachman. KY had the .40 cal listed at $429.
