Price for a New Ruger 22/45

One of my local dealers has one with a bull barrel for about 250$. It struck my fancy, and I like .22 pistols for fun stuff - from what I've heard the Ruger is one of the best. But I have also considered a Pheonix Rangemaster kit, since I can get 2 barrels and all that other stuff for under 200$. Does my dealer have a good price on the Ruger?

Thanks!

Hey Al

I just bought a 22/45 for 259.00
This was better than the prices I saw on the net and in other gun shops. I bought the stainless version with the 5 1/2 bull barrel.
This gun is freakin accurate right out of the box. I have already put 1000 rounds through it. I only had one problem, a defective remington round. The gun is flawless and a blast to shoot. Once you get used to field stripping it (can be a little confusing at first) you are all set.
The dealer did tell me to put high velocity rounds through it for the first few uses to break it in. No big deal. I will have this pistol for life.
I hope you buy one.

$200 in my area for blue, $239 for stainless.

I'd go with the Ruger, great gun for the money.

A family member just bought a blued bull barrel 22/45 at a gunshow for $199. Around here the prices seem to hover around $215 though. Marcus

I just stopped by Turner's(Southern California ["socal"]) tonight looking at a blued 5 1/2" bull barrel 22/45 tonight and the price is at $209. The stainless is $279.

Another local shop has the stainless for $259.

I have seen $189 at BNJ Discount firearms online. They are located in Oregon.

At the Orange County Gun show just a few weeks back. I saw two 22/45s[same as above] both around $279.

Soon as I can(in CA we can now only register a concealable firearm every 30days and I just purchased a Glock 19 2weeks ago), I'm gonna pick up the blued 22/45 or a similarly equipped MK II for a few dollars more.

He must be a little high, since this one is a blued 5&1/2" bull barrel model. Might go with the Pheonix after all.

My son in law bought a 22/45 about the same time I bought a Browning Buckmark Plus. I have fired both quite a bit and slightly favor the Browning. The 22/45 really is a fab gun, his accuracy is not quite my Browning but I think that may be due to his having the real short barrel. I'm thinking of buying a 22/45 for my wife unless she wants one like mine.

Now, the Phoenix-I saw their ad in the gun magazines and it looks really sweet. BUT my local dealer and gunsmith really were down on it. Like, every one they have sold came back broken, metal shavings in the action, that kind of stuff. Sure scared me off! Its Browning or Ruger, period.

Got a 22/45 with 5.5 bull barrel from BNJ Discount Firearms for $184 + $13 shipping in January. Functions very well, but I am terrible with it! It is my first pistol, but, I thought I would be able to do better than than this! I am all over the target at 25 yards. I know practice makes perfect but I am only 16. I do not get to use it much since someone over 18 has to be with you for handguns. Any suggestions on how to get better?

I was terrible with a 22 pistol until I shot NRA bullseye/conventional pistol matches, AND took training through my local gun club. I'm still not great but I'm not embarrassing myself either. Join the NRA, join your state association, and take advantage of the clinics and training offered. Wish I had when I was younger.
Best of Luck
