I recently came across a S&W 629 Classic .44 mag in stainless, with the 6" or 6.5" factory ported barrel (not sure). The gun is in very good condition, and is very tight. What is the approximate value of this gun?

I ran across one two weeks ago, the guy wanted $450, I'm not into revolvers, so I ask a friend of mind whom is in the business to buy, he said typically he buys them fro $300 to $350, Then sells them for $400-$425. I hope this helps

I dont know where your friend is finding them for $300 but I wish you would tell us so I could go buy some.

$400 i would consider a good deal on a used LNIB 629.

$450 is not a horrible price, but it would need to be perfect, with box, papers, etc.

Greeting's Bongos,

I agree with lonegunman, in the fact that I don't know where
you're bud is buying the Smith & Wesson 629 "Classic's" at
for $300; but he sure wouldn't get mine for that kind'a price.
Of course, mine is not for sale at any price! :D :)

But, I think the market value would be closer to the $450
mark for LNIB with all essential's. BTW, my 629-5 .44 mag
"Classic" is one of the finest revolver's I've ever owned;
and I've been thru a bunch of 'em.

Hi Guys,

My Friend whom is a dealer gets his deals from gunshows and post want adds in the local paper, I was even surprise on how he was able to get these guns at such a great prices. From my observations, the majority of the time revolvers are harder to sell than autos. My friends first comments when someone wants to sell his revolver, is "revolvers are hard to sell, I couldn't give you much", I've seen pythons for $400-$450, S&W686 for $225-$275,etc. I don't deal in guns, I tend to keep most of what I buy, but with him, seeing is beleiving and I have seen. You have tounderstand, most people whom are on this site knows better and guns are a sport/hobby/obsession... To those whom own one or two, they might consider them lead weight, even dangerous.. you'd be surprise

This sounds familiar after a recession has been on for about two years. These guys are buying guns at a shameful price, but it's business. Out here on the west coast a new 629 is about $650 and used ones don't exist.

Bountyh, I got news for you, I'm in Orange County, CA and if you want 6" 629 classic, let me know, I know a guy whom has one in great shape, with ammo and nylon holster for $450... I bought a 22-250 Varmint gun from him and passed on the 629, I talked to him last week and he still has it, I'll be more than happy to introduce ya.

When I was thinking of getting the 629, I consorted with my friend the dealer to get an idea of the dealer price and those were the price I mentioned above. Then I thought, I have enough handguns and pass.

Let me know, the seller is in Huntington Beach

I would think a "like new" 629 classic purchased within the last year or so would still fetch $475-$500, but the olders ones would more mid $400s.

If under $400 and "like new" it would be a very good deal.

I'm planning on purchasing a NIB 629 6" after work today cost is $539.95. I'm quite sure as usual I'll be put on hold and won't be able to pick it up until monday.
